Quadrant Energy’s Roc-2 well being drilled offshore W. Australia has confirmed a hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir, in good quality rock, within the Caley section, its primary target.The Roc-2 well is located within the WA-437-P exploration permit in the North West Shelf of Australia where Quadrant is the operator with 80% interest, while Carnarvon Petroleum holds the remaining 20% interest.

The well is currently drilling ahead in the 8 ½” (216 mm) hole section at a depth of approximately 4,610 meters, the company said. The rig will continue to drill the 8 ½” (216 mm) hole to planned total depth of around 5,250 meters. Following the completion of drilling, anticipated to take around 2 weeks, an extensive logging and testing campaign will start.

Mubadala is the operator of the G1/48 concession, where the development is located, with 60% interest while its partners Tap Oil and Northern Gulf Petroleum have 30% and 10% interest, respectively.

The jack-up rig Atwood Orca started drilling the MNA-17 well at the Manora Oil Development on September 3, 2016.The MNA-17 well has both an appraisal and development component. Total E&P USA today announced that it is exercising its preemption right to acquire Chesapeake's 75% interests in the jointly held Barnett Shale operating area located in North Texas. Total E&P USA has owned the remaining 25% in the Barnett Assets since December 2009. With the preemption, Total E&P USA will be the 100% owner and operator of the assets.

Properties in the proposed transaction include approximately 215,000 net developed and undeveloped acres, wells, leases, minerals, buildings and properties (the 'Barnett Assets'). Associated 2016 net production is approximately 65 000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d).

The preemption and associated transactions are subject to a number of conditions, including the receipt of third-party consents, and are expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Bengal Energy Ltd. (TSX:BNG) is pleased to announce that the first four wells of the Cuisinier 2016 five well drilling campaign have been cased as future oil producers in the Murta horizon.

The most recent well, Shefu-1, was drilled as a near field exploration well situated on the western flank of the Cuisinier Petroleum Lease 303 ('PL 303'), approximately 3.6 kilometers west of the nearest Cuisinier development well, Cuisinier-17. The Shefu-1 well encountered 8.1 meters of gross sand with 7 meters of net pay exhibiting normal gradient, virgin pressure. PL 303 is located with the Barta Permit, ATP 752.

At Shefu-1, oil pay was found to occur structurally lower than what has been encountered in previous rounds of appraisal drilling at Cuisinier, therefore lowering the 'lowest known oil' for the area. Bengal's internal estimates suggest that this Shefu-1 result has the potential to materially increase the Cuisinier area oil in place and reserves, given that the Murta reservoir in the Shefu-1 area is well outside of Bengal's currently booked 1P, 2P and 3P reserves areas.

Irving Oil announced today the successful close of its purchase and sale agreement with Houston-based energy, manufacturing and logistics company, Phillips 66 (NYSE: PSX), to acquire the Whitegate refinery located near Cork, Ireland. The agreement was announced by Irving Oil on August 3 with an expectation that the transaction would close by the end of the third quarter once all conditions of the sale were met.

With the transaction finalized, Irving Oil has assumed full ownership of the refinery and will continue full operation of the facility, including maintaining its existing workforce.

'Whitegate is a great facility, and is a good fit for our company,' says Arthur Irving, Chairman of Irving Oil. 'We are happy to welcome the Whitegate team to Irving Oil and we are looking forward to working together.'

Sterling Resources has announced the entrance into a gas sales agreement with British Gas Trading ('BGT'), a subsidiary of Centrica.  The agreement provides for Sterling's share of Breagh nominated gas volumes to be sold on a day ahead basis to the UK reference price at the National Balancing Point ('NBP').  The agreement is valid for a minimum two year period with gas made available to BGT commencing October 1 , 2016.  The agreement replaces the gas trading and services agreement with Vitol which expires on October 1, 2016 .'We are pleased to enter into this agreement with British Gas Trading who are a leading gas marketing company within the UK,' commented John Rapach, CEO of Sterling Resources.  He added, 'The agreement provides for a secure gas sales arrangement for the Company's interest gas production from the Breagh Field over the next two years.'

Russia's Gazprom and the state geological exploration services company Rosgeologia have signed memorandums of understanding with Bahrain's state-owned Noga in the areas of LNG and oil and gas exploration. The agreements were signed during the meeting of Russia's President Vladimir Putin and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain in Moscow. Gazprom's MOU with Noga, the state-owned oil and gas holding company of Bahrain, includes expanding cooperation in LNG. Bahrain, looking to cover a shortfall in domestic gas supply, is building an 22.65 million cubic meters/day LNG terminal, expected to start operations in July 2018. Gazprom and Noga earlier discussed Russian gas supplies to the terminal once it is completed, and planned to sign an agreement this year. Enterprise Products Partners said Thursday it withdrew an offer to buy the Williams Cos. after speculation reached Wall Street. Enterprise CEO Jim Teague said the proposed acquisition offer was pulled because of a “lack of engagement” by Williams and because of the increasing rumors about a potential deal. Such rumors began spreading in mid-August, just more than a month after the $33 billion deal for Energy Transfer Partners to buy Williams fell apart from buyer’s remorse. Enterprise is not saying how big its offer was to acquire Williams.The news comes during a larger trend of consolidations within the North American pipeline sector. Canada-based Enbridge agreed this week to buy Houston’s Spectra Energy for $28 billion. Likewise, TransCanada recently purchased Houston-based Columbia Pipeline Group for more than $10 billion.
