Inpex Corporation announced Friday that gas has been found at an exploration well offshore the Shimane and Yamaguchi prefectures in Japan. Drilling operations, which began June 5, consisted of drilling to a depth of 9,514 feet below the sea floor at a location approximately 80 miles northwest of Shimane Prefecture and approximately 86 miles north of Yamaguchi Prefecture. These operations resulted in the discovery of a thin gas reservoir in a shallow zone, as well as some gas indications in deeper zones. Inpex also said that it encountered unexpected, strong gas indications suggesting the presence of a high pressure gas column in the deepest zone.
Based on the findings of a gas reservoir in the shallow zone and gas indications in the deeper and deepest zones in this area, Inpex revealed that it will conduct a detailed analysis and evaluation of data obtained in order to continue the exploration of prospects in this region.

Brazil’s Petrobras has unveiled plans to install four large floating production, storage and offloading vessels at the giant Libra field in the Santos basin pre-salt province by 2023, as it looks to speed up development in the prolific carbonate play.Fernando Borges, Petrobras executive manager for the Libra project, said all four FPSOs will be deployed in the north-western section of the field.Production is expected to begin with the Libra pilot FPSO.The Libra pilot will be followed by the Libra 2 FPSO, due to start production in June 2021. At the panel, Borges announced that Petrobras also intends to have another two units at Libra NW early next decade, including one in 2022 and another in 2023.The Libra 2 floater will be similar in size with the Libra pilot FPSO, but Borges made no mention to the potential processing capacity of Libra 3 and Libra 4.Both the Libra pilot and Libra 2 FPSOs will have a total of 17 development wells each, including eight oil producers and nine injectors.Before commercial production begins in 2020, Petrobras will run a series of extended well tests in the north-west section of the Libra reservoir.

HOUSTON – An ExxonMobil-operated exploration well on the Skipjack prospect offshore Guyana was unsuccessful, according to partner Hess.However, the partners’ Liza-3 appraisal well on the Stabroek block delivered sound results. Hess expects estimated recoverable resources to be at the upper end of the previously announced range of 800 MMboe-1.4 Bboe. At the Joint Development Area of Malaysia/Thailand (Hess 50%), the operator shut down the field during 3Q to commission the booster compressor project.In the North Sea, Hess’ net production from the Aker BP-operated Valhall field was down this summer, due mainly to a reduced drilling program.The same applied at the Hess-operated South Arne field in the Danish North Sea, following a planned maintenance shutdown.

French oil company Total has made an oil discovery in the Khan Asparuh license, located in the Black Sea offshore Bulgaria. In its 3Q 2016 report on Friday, the oil company said it made the discovery in the Black Sea during the quarter thus opening a new play. Noble Corp.’s 2013-built drillship, Noble Globetrotter II, carried out the exploratory drilling for Total in the Khan Asparuh block. The drillship headed to its drilling location off Bulgaria in late April this year and was set to start drilling in May. Total’s first well in the Black Sea is named Polshkov-1 and the exploration campaign lasted for four months. Total is the operator of the block with 40% interest and its partners are Austria’s OMV with 30%, and Spain’s Repsol with 30% stake.

Subsea engineering company Oceaneering has informed that a unit of BP has agreed to a two-year extension through January 2019 under the field support vessel services contract that was entered into with the company for work offshore Angola on Blocks 18 and 31. Under this contract term extension, the Ocean Intervention III multi-service vessel will remain chartered through April 2017. JAKARTA, Oct 25 (Reuters) – Indonesia's Pertamina is targeting a 42 percent increase in crude oil production and a 17 percent increase in gas production in 2017 amid continued overseas expansions, a spokeswoman said on Tuesday.Earlier this month. Pertamina signed a deal with Russia's Rosneft that it hoped would pave the way for its first stakes in upstream projects in Russia.Pertamina is also working toward its first asset deal in Iran, with a review currently underway of several oilfields with estimated reserves of more than 5 billion barrels of oil.The company said in April it planned to spend up to $2 billion this year to buy into energy projects, both domestically and in Iraq, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Gabon, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Akastor ASA has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Fjords Processing to National Oilwell Varco for a consideration of NOK 1,200 million on a debt- and cash-free basis.

Aker Solutions has secured two five-year framework agreements for potential future deliveries of subsea production systems and lifecycle services at BP-operated oil and gas fields globally.
The first five-year contract covers engineering, procurement and construction of subsea production systems for new and maturing developments worldwide. The companies also agreed on a five-year servicing agreement, coinciding with the first contract, for any equipment delivered under the first contract and to support previously installed subsea hardware. The contracts allow Aker Solutions to bid for work as one of four preferred suppliers for BP's development portfolio across the world. Both contracts started in August 2016.
