The Australian subsidiary of Canadian company Tag Oil has entered into an agreement to gain a 100% interest in PL 17 in the onshore Surat basin. Tag revealed its Cypress Petroleum subsidiary had entered into a sale and purchase agreement with Southern Cross Petroleum & Exploration which will see it buy the licence and all related assets for A$2.5 million (US$1.9 million). Under the agreement, Tag will pay an initial A$750,000 once the deal closes, with a further A$500,000 to be paid in cash on 20 July next year. Tag said a work programme was being designed to enhance the understanding of the Permian formation’s reservoir properties.

The latest companies to release their 3Q results, Royal Dutch Shell plc and BP plc’s latest quarterly updates were defined as largely positive by oil and gas analysts at investment bank Jefferies.
Shell's overall 3Q adjusted net income of $2.792 billion was 63 percent above the consensus of $1.714 billion and 41 percent above Jefferies’ estimate of $1.985 billion. Shell’s 2016 organic capital investment – which includes $3 billion in non-cash items – will be around $29 billion, some $18 billion below 2014 Shell and BG levels. Capital investment for 2017 is expected to be around $25 billion. BP also recorded rig cancellation charges, which were partially offset by cost reduction programs. The company’s 4Q production is also expected to increase further.BP’s 2016 capital expenditure is now expected to be around $16 billion, compared to an original guidance of between $17 and 19 billion.

BP and partner Rosneft have won two more blocks for a joint venture company set up earlier this year, which has now completed creation. Yermak Neftegaz, which the UK super major and Russian state-backed giant Rosneft set up in June, bid for two blocks in the Krasnoyarsk region, finally landing them on Friday. The blocks are Verknekubinskiy and Posoyskiy, located within the Yenisey-Khatanga areas of mutual interest for the partners. Norwegian oil major Statoil has submitted a Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) of the Trestakk discovery to the Norwegian minister for petroleum and energy Tord Lien in Bodø, Norway.The discovery, made in 1986, contains about 76 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent, mainly oil. The project will be tied back to the Åsgard A oil production vessel, with planned production startup anticipated in 2019. Ireland-based oil and gas exploration company Providence Resources is finalizing an agreement for the provision of a drilling rig to be used for drilling the Druid prospect, offshore Ireland. The company issued a tender for a rig contract for the Druid exploration well, in Frontier Exploration Licence (FEL) 2/14 in the southern Porcupine Basin, in September this year.FEL 2/14 is located 220 km off the south-west coast of Ireland and is situated in 2,250 meter water depth. Coal and natural gas producer Consol Energy Inc and Noble Energy Inc said on Monday they would dissolve their 50-50 Marcellus shale joint venture, resulting in a payment of about $205 million to Consol on closing.
The joint venture was formed in 2011 to explore and develop about 669,000 acres in the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The venture produces the equivalent of about 1.07 billion cubic feet of gas per day. Noble and Consol said they would now own and operate wells in two separate areas where they would have independent control and flexibility over development. The deal is not subject to a financing condition and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016, the companies said.

Petrofac has extended its relationship with Mubadala Petroleum with the award of new and modified contracts relating to the FPF-003 floating production, storage and offloading vessel located in the Jasmine/Ban Yen field in the Gulf of Thailand. The companies signed a new ‘life of field’ agreement for the provision of operations and maintenance (O&M) services, which has the potential to run until 2023. Under the contract terms Petrofac will deliver ‘an optimized scope’ designed to reduce Jasmine’s operating costs and create operational efficiencies.

Commercial production at Lukoil's Vladimir Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea was launched Monday by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The field, which was found in 2005, is Russia’s largest oil discovery for the past twenty-five years and the second field commissioned by Lukoil in the Russian offshore sector of the Caspian Sea.
The field’s С1+С2 recoverable reserves under the Russian classification are estimated at 129 million tons of crude oil and 30 Bcm of gas. The field’s annual oil production, at plateau, is estimated at 6 million tons. Two horizontal production wells have been drilled to date, yielding a daily flow rate of over 6,000 tons (45,000 bbl) of oil. Construction of a third well is underway. The second stage of the field development is already underway, Lukoil said.

Condor Petroleum Inc. has announced drilling results of the Poyraz-3 development well in Turkey. Based on wireline log interpretation, the Poyraz-3 well encountered a minimum 135 m of net gas pay in multiple stacked reservoirs of Miocene (Kirazli and Gazhanedere sandstone formations) and Eocene (Sogucak carbonate formation) age. No gas-water contact was encountered in the basal Gazhanedere reservoirs and the gas-water contact in the Sogucak was confirmed to be at the structural spill-point of Poyraz Ridge field.
Production casing has been run and cemented on Poyraz-3 and completion and testing equipment will be mobilized once the drilling rig has moved.

GODALMING, UK – Hurricane Energy says tests have been completed on its 205 21a-7Z horizontal side track well on the Lancaster oil field west of Shetland.The well will now be suspended as a future second producer, ahead of the early production system (EPS) development phase.Productivity from the 1-km side track was consistent with results from the 205 21a-6 horizontal well, drilled on the field in 2014. In both cases, flow was constrained by the test equipment. No formation water was produced during the testing operations.Following the removal of the wear bushing from the 205-21a-6 well, Hurricane now anticipates spudding of a well on the Lincoln prospect in the same area.Dr. Robert Trice, Hurricane’s CEO, said: “We are very encouraged by these excellent test results which support the company’s plans for a Lancaster field development and demonstrate that we now have two highly productive horizontal wells which we will use in our EPS.
