BWA Water Additives announced today the release of Bellascavenger? 70HS,a unique, specialty, patent pending, polymer based solution designed to help enhance the removal of H2S, mercaptan and other
impurities from hydrocarbon streams present in the vapor phase of Oil and Gas production.
“Field trials show that using Bellascavenger? 70HS with triazine to remove H2S enhances the longevity of the chemical program in applications like bubble towers,” said George Nagle, Director of Marketing, BWA Water Additives. “We strive to give our customers the most effective and sustainable solutions possible. Bellascavenger? 70 HS is a perfect example of this type of effective solution because it reduces cost by at least 33%, reduces overall chemical consumption and most importantly increases field safety.”
Bellascavenger70HS is a unique specialty blended polymer based system designed to work at higher pH. When used with triazine in the removal of H2S there is an enhanced longevity in remediation. This more effective solution reduces cost, overall chemical consumption and scale formation.
Bellascavenger70HS offers
- Highly functional use in high pH
- H2S and mercaptan removal aid
- Cost effective multi functional inhibitor
- Effectiveness in iron containing waters
- Compatibility in systems with H2S
Benefits
The mechanism of scale inhibition is through threshold inhibition and also by inhibiting crystal growth. This two pronged approach delivers excellent scale control where commodity scale inhibitors fail.
This product functions in the high pH levels needed for removing H2S and Mecaptan and aids in removing these unwanted items.
Application Case:Doubles the in-use life of triazine in bubble towers and other H2S removal systems
Challenge
BWA’s customer was having difficulty effectively removing H2S gas from their natural gas production stream. The levels of H2S coming from the wells had a lot of variability and made it difficult to optimize a pump on the fly scavenger program. The customer installed a vertical “bubble tower” system that the contactor filled with a solution containing 30% triazine. Though this solution has been successful at controlling the H2S levels, it requires frequent change outs with the chemical life averaging about25-28 days.
The short life cycle of the bubble tower treatment program brings with it financial issues, several logistics problems, and safety risks. To begin with, the system needs frequent monitoring to know when the triazine is almost spent.
If the program reaches levels of H2S exceeding 4 ppm in the pipeline, the customer risks being locked out of the pipeline until the location could be deemed clean enough for use. This would result in significant revenue losses and high costs to certify the location was clean again. Flushing and refilling the bubble towers once the chemical is spent requires additional labor costs. The safety risks also have increased due to the number of change outs leading to a greater risk of spills and exposure to potentially high levels of H2S gas.
BWA consulted with the customer to determine the best overall treatment plan to help relieve some of the challenges they were facing. It was recommended that the customer add Bellascavenger 70HS to their current fluid package to increase the longevity of their treatment program while reducing their chemical spend by at least 55%.
Results
After adding Bellascavenger 70HS to their bubble tower system, the customer has seen a significant improvement to their treatment program. As Table 1 illustrates, they have more than quadrupled the useful life of their H2S scavenging
chemicals. By using Bellascavenger 70HS, the costs for monitoring, labor for changing out the system, down time, and disposal have been significantly reduced. The reduced refilling of the units led to chemical truck deliveries, and their
charges, being cut in half.
The new program utilizing the Bellascavenger 70HS has also significantly reduced the risk of exposure to H S gas to the customer’s employees, the service company and potential individuals passing by. As a result of these efficiencies
and substantial cost savings, the customer is expanding this program to all their locations where they are facing H2S issues.
Bellascavenger70HS is a unique patent pending additive designed to extend the in-use life of H2S scavengers. This more effective solution reduces cost, overall chemical consumption and helps mitigate some safety risks. Speak with your
