AssurEOR, a new green paraffin remediation and reservoir stimulation treatment programme from Locus Bio-Energy Solutions™ (Locus Bio-Energy), has been selected as a finalist for the New Technology Development of the Year honour in the Texas Oil & Gas Awards.
The environmentally–friendly line of treatments, which won the category in the Northeast Oil & Gas Awards earlier this year, is being lauded as a truly novel oilfield chemistry that safely and cost-effectively maximises the performance of declining wells, reducing the need for new drilling to maintain production rates.
The AssurEOR programme has caught the attention of the industry for its use of the world’s most proven biosurfactants, previously only used in large volumes in personal care and high–end household cleaning products. Using patented modular fermentation technology, the company can economically manufacture these highly–effective, natural products at scale—bringing unsurpassed performance, sustainability and profitability to oil production. Each ultra-potent treatment is optimised to individual wells and offers benefits typically not achievable with traditional petrochemical surfactants, including successful paraffin remediation and well stimulation.

The customised biosurfactant treatment programme consists of two products—AssurEOR FLOW™ for paraffin remediation and AssurEOR STIM™ for well stimulation. When used together, the solutions naturally improve the economic viability of existing wells by offering significant increases in production rates and recoverable reserves. Since availability was expanded to Texas oil basins less than a year ago, interest has grown rapidly based on impressive ongoing results on over 100 Permian wells.

AssurEOR FLOW™ Case History
A 70 well production case study in the Appalachian Basin confirmed paraffin dispersal, reduced LOE and consistent increases in production—consistent with what we are seeing with all customers.
The wells selected were a random mix of horizontal and vertical wells ranging in depth between 2000’ and 6000’ that were previously treated bimonthly with a mix of solvent and condensate. AssurEOR FLOW™ treatments began in month 82, with the wells kept on the same bimonthly application schedule.

Cost Effective and High Efficiency
Locus Bio-Energy’s AssurEOR STIM™ Enhanced Oil Recovery solution fills a market need for a cost-effective and high-efficiency tertiary extraction method. It is highly potent and designed to treat the formation to help stimulate the reservoir for increased oil and gas production.
Thermal, gas and chemical (polymer) injection methods are extremely expensive and many are toxic, and traditional Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) methods have not delivered upon expectations.
AssurEOR STIM™ Case History
AssurEOR STIM™ treatments substantially increase production over extended periods—with wells treated in Summer 2017 still showing the increases in Spring 2018.
This chart shows a typical treatment result. A 3800’ Clinton sandstone vertical well was treated with the AssurEOR STIM™, followed by a short 3 day shut-in. The net result of the treatment was a 300% increase in production over a period of 4 months.
For best results, Locus Bio-Energy recommends 1-2 AssurEOR FLOW™ paraffin dispersal treatments prior to the AssurEOR STIM™ applications, to clean the well and increase responsiveness.
