Oil production slowed 2.2% to 2.6 million barrels per day in January, while natural gas output fell 0.4% to 113 million cubic meters per day, Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency, or ANP, said Thursday. Oil production increased 0.6% from January 2018, and natural gas output rose 0.7% in the same period, the ANP said. Two offshore platforms, P-74 in the Buzios field and FPSO Cidade de So Paulo in the Sapinhoa field, shut down for maintenance during January, according to the ANP. Production in Brazil’s pre-salt fields, so called because they lie beneath a layer of salt that is itself under deep offshore waters, fell 2.7% in January from December to 1.8 million barrels per day.
