The French oil major said it would buy the Zema Petroleo, Zema Diesel and Zema Importacao businesses for an undisclosed amount. Zema Petroleo manages 280 gas stations and several storage facilities, mostly concentrated in the central states of Minas Gerais, Goias and Matto Grosso. Total said it will begin rebranding the network and opening new branches in 2019. It plans to double the number of branded stations within five years, particularly in Brazil’s southeast and central-west regions. Brazil is the largest market in South America for retail fuel and the second largest low-carbon biofuels market in the world, Total said.
