Locus Bio-Energy Solutions has introduced a customizable treatment program, AssurEOR line, for use in upstream applications. The new products have shown effective at improving production and safety. The technology was a finalist in the World Oil Awards.
The AssurEOR line is recognized as one of the industry’s first treatment programs that offers financial benefits from use. In addition to best-in-class well maintenance, the products increase production and recoverable reserves—leading to improved profitability and the potential for tax benefits. The monetary gains and decreased safety concerns have skyrocketed demand across a multitude of basins, including Appalachia, Powder River and the Permian. Growing awareness has resulted in invitations for Locus Bio-Energy experts to present information on the technology through a variety of forums—from industry events and news articles to award submissions.

All of the products were developed using non-bacterial, microbial-based formulations that are highly potent, yet non-toxic—making them safer alternatives to chemicals that provide even better results. The program utilizes Locus Bio-Energy’s unique fermentation process, allowing each treatment to be fully customized to specific regional and well characteristics which maximizes performance. The innovative approach and impressive production increases are gaining national recognition.

Locus Bio-Energy has developed a patent-pending paraffin treatment product specifically designed to remove paraffin buildup that stress mechanical components, reduce interfacial tension, and remove biofilms that clog channels. Cost Effective and High Efficiency
Locus Bio-Energy’s AssurEOR STIM™ Enhanced Oil Recovery solution fills a market need for a cost-effective and high-efficiency tertiary extraction method. It is highly potent and designed to treat the formation to help stimulate the reservoir for increased oil and gas production.
Thermal, gas and chemical (polymer) injection methods are extremely expensive and many are toxic, and traditional Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) methods have not delivered upon expectations.
AssurEOR STIM™ treatments substantially increase production over extended periods—with wells treated in Summer 2017 still showing the increases in Spring 2018. This chart shows a typical treatment result. A 3800’ Clinton sandstone vertical well was treated with the AssurEOR STIM™, followed by a short 3 day shut-in. The net result of the treatment was a 300% increase in production over a period of 4 months.
Decreases IFT, surface tension and viscosity
Combination of bio-chemical surfactants allow for the reduction of interfacial tension (IFT) between oil and water, as well as reduction in oil viscosity allowing the oil to have increased mobility in the reservoir.
Bio-surfactants can decrease water surface tension from 72 dynes/cm to 28-30 dynes/cm at very low concentrations.
Wettability alteration of produced water
Efficient recovery of hydrocarbons from the produced water by altering wettability – helping water to imbibe from fractures into matrix blocks to displace oil out.
Wax and scale removal from formation
Disperse paraffin waxes and asphaltene deposits. Remove iron sulfide scale attached to the waxes to improve flow.
