DJ IEA Says Not Planning to Tap Oil Stockpile Despite Iran Sanctions The International Energy Agency is not debating a release of its members’ strategic oil stockpiles despite supply risks, its chief executive said Tuesday. Speaking at the Oil & Money conference in London, Fatih Birol, the executive director of the IEA, said “we are not discussing this issue…Currently, it’s not on the table,” he said, as such measures are designed for unplanned disruptions. Mr. Birol said oil prices, currently at a four-year-high, could endanger a fragile global economy. But he said producers, rather than consumers, should make up for lost barrels.
