The highly anticipated data lends support to the central bank’s plans to begin tightening monetary policy next month, economists said. It would be the first time in seven years for Norwegian rates to rise, from a record low of 0.5 percent. Non-oil gross domestic product expanded by 0.5 percent in the second quarter from the first, weighed down by lower power production from hydro-electric dams but still in line with expectations in a Reuters poll of economists.
