Investors Watch Expected Fuel Hit to Airline Earnings Higher fuel costs will be the focus when Delta Air Lines reports 2Q earnings next week, says Cowen analyst Helane Becker. The company likely won’t trim its schedule during the summer when demand is highest, but it may reduce the number of flights in the remainder of the year to contend with higher costs. “The first course of action may be to adjust their fall and winter schedules, while trying to raise fares in strong markets,” she writes in a client note. The company’s 2018 EPS guidance will likely also be trimmed from $6.70 on the high end to $5.95 due to jet fuel costs, she says.
