In July 2017, the FCA proposed a new premium listing category for sovereign-owned companies that would exempt them from certain requirements, including prior independent shareholder approval for transactions with the sovereign owner. On Friday, the FCA said it will press ahead with the listing category following a consultation process. The new category will be effective from July 1.
