For the transaction, Qatar Petroleum will establish a holding company which will acquire its stake in Qatalum. The offer will help investors acquire shares in a state-owned company, the statement added.
The company expects the approval for the IPO in the last quarter of 2018.
Qatalum, which is a joint venture of Qatar Petroleum and Norwegian company Hydro, will be applying for public listing on Qatar Exchange.
Qatalum has an annual production capacity of around 645,000 mt and has customers in Asia, Europe and the US.
