The agreement was signed with Long Son Petrochemicals, a subsidiary of The Siam Cement Public Company, QP said in a statement. The supply of these products is expected to begin in 2022, with the start of Vietnam’s first green-field petrochemical complex, which is being constructed on Long Son Island, 100 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City.
The project includes a 1 million mt/year mixed ethane and naphtha-fed steam cracker, which will yield up to 1.6 million mt/year of olefins output, depending on the feedstock mix, the statement said. “This agreement has a significant importance, as it is the first time that Qatar is selling LPG and naphtha on a long-term basis, as well as the first time that we are selling directly to Vietnam,” QP CEO Saad al-Kaabi said in the statement.
