Total revenue rose to $36 billion, which was up from a year ago but less than the $41.8 billion analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had expected. The oil company reported a profit of $3.6 billion, or $1.90 a share, up from $2.7 billion, or $1.41 a share, a year ago.
