The Houston-based oil company earned a quarterly profit of $900 million, or 75 cents a share, up from $600 million, or 47 cents a share, for the same period last year. Excluding items, ConocoPhillips reported an adjusted profit of 96 cents a share for the quarter, compared with a loss of 14 cents a share last year. The company produced 1.2 million barrels of oil equivalent a day during the first quarter, excluding Libya. ConocoPhillips expects to produce 1.2 million to 1.24 million barrels of oil equivalent a day for the year, excluding Libya.
