“On 5 April 2018, the Finnish Government gave its consent to the Nord Stream 2 AG’s gas pipeline construction project in respect of the section that passes through Finland’s exclusive economic zone,” the government said in a statement on its website. The statement said the pipeline would stretch “across Finland’s exclusive economic zone” for around 374 km. Nord Stream 2 would double the existing Nord Stream pipeline’s current annual capacity of 55 billion cubic metres. The pipeline runs from Russia across the bed of the Baltic Sea to Germany.
