The value of the agreement was not provided.
With the additional stake, the US explorer now will hold 40% interest in the block, from 35% previously. PVEP has 48.46% interest in the project and South Korea’s SK Corp. 11.54%.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade in February last year approved agreements under which Murphy bought 35% interest in block 15-1/05 — 21.54% from PVEP and 13.46% from SK, according to PetroVietnam.
