D&L Oil Tools designs new anchor in response to demand of smart well technology
D&L Oil Tools has unveiled a new design for hydraulically and mechanically-set retrievable tubing anchors/catchers aptly named Trilobite Anchors.
Trilobite Anchors have a unique design with three heat-treated steel alloy slips which not only maximise holding in both tension and compression, but also with strategic component spacing to allow increased annular flow and capillary tube bypassing. This allows for operators to increase space for gas while running capillary lines, all without compromising tubing size in the desired 5½” x 2?” configuration.
“This tool is revolutionary,” said Dan Eslicker, D&L Oil Tools COO. “We received input from clients about the need to have more space around tubing anchors without reducing the ID of the tubing. The trilobite line of tubing anchors makes this available with no compromises.”
The newly-designed anchor also serves as a “catcher,” meaning it does not require upward tension to remain in place.
TRILOBITE HYDRO ANCHOR
The Trilobite Hydro Anchor is a hydraulically-set, retrievable, tubing anchor / catcher featuring D&L’s patent pending slip / cone design. The Trilobite Hydro Anchor utilizes heat-treated steel alloy double-acting slips for maximum holding power in tension or compression. The fully enclosed slips allow for maximum bypass area around the outside of the anchor while maintaining a full open ID through the tubing. This versatile design can be used to route multiple capillary lines or monitoring cables past the anchor and to provide a gas/debris bypass area around the three slips.
The Trilobite Hydro Anchor catcher prevents movement of the tubing during pumping strokes and holds it stationary if it should part. This increases pump efficiency, reduces rod and tubing wear, and keeps tubing and rods from falling into the well in case of a part.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Patent pending, fully enclosed slip/cone design
Maximum holding power in tension or compression
Large flow area around tool
Full open ID
Shear release
TRILOBITE QUARTER TURN ANCHOR
The Trilobite Quarter Turn Anchor is a mechanically set retrievable tubing anchor / catcher featuring D&L’s patent pending slip / cone design. The Trilobite Quarter Turn Anchor utilizes heat-treated steel alloy double-acting slips for maximum holding power in tension or compression. The fully enclosed slips allow for maximum bypass area around the outside of the anchor while maintaining a full open ID through the tubing. This versatile design can be used to route multiple capillary lines or monitoring cables past the anchor and to provide a gas/debris bypass area around the three slips.
