The U.S. Energy Information Administration is expected to report that storage levels shrank by 169 billion cubic feet of gas during the week ended Dec. 15, according to the average forecast of 14 analysts, brokers and traders surveyed by The Wall Street Journal.
For the Dec. 15 week, the median estimate is for a decrease of 171 bcf. Estimates range from an drop of 147 bcf to a decline of 186 bcf.
The estimate for Dec. 15 compares to 200 bcf removed from storage in the same week last year and a five-year average drain of 125 bcf for that week.
