Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to provide power to the whole country, spelling out a goal of adding 400M people to the grid by 2022. Population growth will add another 500M Indians by 2050. With an extra billion people needing power in just one country, “it makes sense for them to do it all,” Kenderdine told a Houston conference of energy investors. India is pushing to build out liquefied natural gas receiving terminals, gas pipelines, solar and other renewable power options.
