Profit after tax for the July-September period climbed 63.9% to 10.0 billion ringgit (US$2.43 billion) from MYR6.1 billion in the same period a year ago primarily due to higher revenue recorded, and lower net impairment on assets and well costs, the state-run firm, known as Petronas, said in a statement. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization rose to MYR21.5 billion during the quarter from MYR15.2 billion in the same quarter last year, it said. Revenue climbed 14.2% on-year to MYR53.68 billion in the third quarter from MYR47.0 billion the same quarter a year ago driven by higher average realized prices for major products and impact of foreign exchange rate, it said.
