Crude-oil stockpiles fell by 1.9 million barrels to 457.1 million barrels and remain in the upper half of the average range for this time of year, the EIA said. Analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had predicted crude supplies would fall by 1.5 million barrels on the week. Oil stored at Cushing, Okla., the delivery point for U.S. stocks, decreased by 1.8 million barrels to 61.2 million barrels, the EIA said in its weekly report.
