Iraq Planning to Stop Exporting Its Oil to Turkey Through Kurdistan The Iraqi oil ministry stated on Tuesday that they were planning to reopen the oil pipeline between Iraq and Turkey, aiming at stopping Iraq’s oil exports to Turkey via Kurdistan’s pipeline.
This move is part of the measures already taken by Baghdad to retaliate against the September 25 referendum of Kurdistan Region.
Iraq’s Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luiebi said on Tuesday that they decided to restore and reopen its export pipeline to Turkey’s Ceyhan port which was passing through Salahuddin and Nineveh provinces.
Luiebi has instructed the North Oil Company (NOC), the state-controlled company, to prepare a plan to urgently resume the operation through the old pipeline.
Iraq’s oil minister’s decision came as Baghdad officially asked Turkey and Iran last Monday to halt all their commercial dealings with Erbil, especially those related to Kurdistan Region’s oil.
