News reports that a looming east-coast gas shortage in Australia, which will be three times worse than anticipated six months ago, are attracting attention in financial markets. Prime Minister Turnbull has ordered gas exporters to shore up gas supplies to east-coast consumers or face strict export limits. This is more bad news for Australia’s energy consumers, who are already facing soaring utility prices, and there will be plenty of heat on the government to fix it, ANZ says.
