Chris Kettenmann of Macro Risk Advisors says “this will only increase pressure on Saudi market share in key Asian demand centers such as China, pressuring Saudi’s commitment to OPEC productions accords.” The difference between WTI and Brent has widened to as much as $5 in recent weeks, making US oil look more attractive to importers than the global benchmark.
