The newly approved power plants, of which 800 MW are gasoil-fired and 968 MW are fuel oil-fired, are estimated to require additional imports of 650,000 mt/year of 0.05% sulfur gasoil and 750,000 mt/year of HSFO, he added. Bangladesh’s Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase on August 9, approved the award of the power projects under the Speedy Supply of Power and Energy (Special Provision) Act 2010. The law has a provision of immunity to those involved with the quick-fix remedies.
