Ltd. (IOC) is moving forward with the first phase of a long-planned project to expand crude oil processing capacity of its 13.7 million-tonne/year Koyali refinery at Vadodara in India’s western state of Gujarat.
Approved by the company’s board at its Aug. 3 meeting, the 150.3-billion rupee expansion will increase the refinery’s total processing capacity by 4.3 million tpy to 18 million tpy by yearend 2022, IOC said. Scheduled to be completed in second-half 2021, Stage 1 of the project will involve construction and startup of a 15 million-tpy atmospheric-vacuum distillation unit (AVDU) and associated utilities to replace several of the refinery’s smaller and outdated primary processing units, including four atmospheric distillation and two vacuum distillation units.
