U.S. crude futures settled up 46 cents, or 1%, to $46.54 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent, the global benchmark, rose 49 cents, or 1.01%, to $48.91 on ICE Futures Europe. U.S. crude futures ended the week up 5.22%. They have been climbing in recent days as investors have been encouraged by recent data showing large weekly declines in U.S. oil stockpiles.
