The global oil glut is set to last until 2020 as stockpiles satisfy demand and productivity and technology gains boost output, Macquarie says. Analysts at the Australian bank predict an average oil price of just over $49 in 2018 and $52 in 2019, while cutting their long-term price assumption to $65 from $70. They cite factors including too much accumulated inventory still bleeding into the market, productivity gains in tight oil production lifting U.S. shale oil volumes.
