Global Oil Layoffs Not Done Yet
A new report shows layoffs related to the oil bust that began in 2014 are still happening even as parts of the sector such as US land-drilling are well into a recovery. Houston-based advisory firm Graves & Co., says as of Feb 10 the downturn has now cost 441K jobs globally. “Just when we thought it was safe to stop tracking worldwide oil and gas industry job cuts, Weatherford International announced an additional 3,000 layoffs on Feb 2,” it says. “For companies with significant exposure offshore and internationally, the downturn … isn’t over.”
