IEA Revises Up 2016 Oil Demand Numbers Again
The initial forecasts for oil demand in 2016 were far too low and the International Energy Agency has revised its own numbers upwards for the third consecutive month, according to the monitor’s February report. Oil demand for last year has now been set at 1.6 million barrels a day, much higher than the initial forecasts of 1.2 million/1.3 million that were floating around at the beginning of the year. The uptick in numbers is due to much higher than expected demand at the end of 2016 with cold weather and strategic stock building in Asia being major contributors.
