The Johan Sverdrup field, a massive oil find in the North Sea being developed by Norway’s Statoil ASA, has an overall break even cost of $25 a barrel, according to Tudor Picking Holt & Co. The first phase of the project has an even lower threshold for profits at $20 a barrel. The project is expected to cost between $16 billion to $18 billion to develop, Tudor Pickering said.
