European and African focused energy firm Sound Energy announced Thursday that the second Tendrara well has now been drilled successfully through the salt cap to the second casing point at a measured vertical depth of 7,227 feet.
The latest development follows the spudding of the second appraisal well at Tendrara, onshore Morocco, on August 26. The well objectives of the TE-7 appraisal well include proving sufficient gas volumes and well deliverability to enable finalization of the field development plan and to demonstrate the benefits of sub-horizontal drilling, which is expected to be implemented as the production well concept for Tendrara.
Drilling is planned to reach a total measured depth of 11,286 feet, with specific tools being used to steer the well at close to an 88 degree angle inside the TAGI reservoir to ensure a horizontal drain of between 1,968 and 2,952 feet. Operations at the well are expected to be completed in approximately 94 days.
The company will now proceed to drill towards the third and final casing point, directly above the reservoir.
