That moves the $4 billion project closer to the development phase, says Rajakumari Jandhyala, CEO of fellow JV participant YAATRA. The partners are now “fully committed to ensuring completion of all commercially viable pre-final investment-decision activities as scheduled,” she adds. The 60,000 barrel/day plant is slated to come online in 2023 and crucial for the development of East Africa’s largest unexploited oil fields. There, France’s Total and one of the China’s Certain Super-Corp. expect to start pumping as much as 230,000 barrels/day of crude in 4 years.
