Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, closed down $1.70, or 2.8%, to $59.97 a barrel on London’s Intercontinental Exchange. West Texas Intermediate futures, the U.S. oil gauge, were down 3.1% at $51 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
