The Bogota, Colombia-based company said it is expecting benchmark oil prices in the range of $55 and $65 a barrel. It expects the net profit breakeven price for 2019 to remain at $36 a barrel. Ecopetrol said its plan is centered on growth in its upstream segment, which accounts for 81% of total expected investment, enabling projected 2019 production of between 720,000 and 730,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, and the addition of proven reserves equivalent to 100% of oil and gas production. For capital investment, 92% is expected to be allocated to projects in Colombia, while the remainder is expected to be invested in positioning the Ecopetrol Group in prospective basins in the U.S., Mexico and Brazil. Exploration capital investments in 2019 will increase to more than $460 million, from $250 million in 2018.
