The South Ghazalat 6X exploration well flowed at up to 3,840 b/d of 38 API crude in tests from one of three formations after drilling to a total depth of 5,195 feet, the company said. Based on the positive test flows, TransGlobe said it will begin preparing a development plan for the discovery and evaluating additional exploration/appraisal drilling in the area to accelerated the development options. “Once we have completed our planning we will be able to incorporate the development of this discovery into our 2019 plan, and provide updated capital and production guidance,” TransGlobe President Randy Neely said in a statement. Based in Calgary, TransGlobe is focused on onshore oil fields of 2-20 million barrels recoverable, with high individual per well productivity and reserves. TransGlobe currently controls exploration rights over 1,142,850 net acres in Egypt’s Western Desert over three operated concessions. The company picked up a 100% working interest in the 1,414 sq km South Ghazalat concession in November 2013. The work commitment on the area includes $8 million in the first phase covering 400 sq km of 3D seismic and two exploration wells. TransGlobe began direct marketing Eastern Desert entitlement crude oil to international buyers in 2015 and expects to see its total production average 14,200-14,800 b/d of oil equivalent this year.
