DJ Korea’s Planned Oil-Tax Cut a Stimulus Move South Korea’s planned gasoline-tax cut aims to help reduce energy bills and hopefully boost other spending in support for the economy, says Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon. Oil futures hitting 4-year highs has been weighing on domestic demand, he told a parliament hearing, adding a concrete plan will be announced next week. Central-bank officials say the planned tax cut will likely lower soft consumer prices even further.
