原文如下: DJ Big Oil Bullish on Deep Water Drilling Despite the rise of shale oil production and alternatives to oil like natural gas, the world’s biggest energy companies are once again bullish on deep water upstream oil production. “The deep water basins are critical for future supply,” Clay Neff, president of Chevron’s exploration and production for Africa and Latin America, said during the Oil & Money conference in London Wednesday. “There’s a tremendous resource base to be found and developed” in places like Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa, he added. Bernard Looney, BP’s CEO for upstream operations, said that technological developments like seismic imaging have unleashed new opportunities to extract crude from the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico. “Technology enables you to see if it’s such that you can do something about it and develop these resources,” he said.
