Stock levels were drawn down to their lowest point in seven years at the end of the winter season following back-to-back cold snaps in February and March that led to a significant increase in withdrawals.
ENTSOG said EU storage levels as of April 1 were at just 17.5% of capacity, compared with 26% at the end of the Winter 16-17 season.
“To achieve the same storage inventory level as the previous season more injection into storages would be needed,” it said.
