李峻 编译自 RZNews.com 原文如下: Natural Gas Will Help Kenya Achieve ‘Ambitious’ Power Generation Goals The introduction of natural gas for power generation, and the potential expansion of domestic gas production, will help Kenya achieve its ‘ambitious’ goals to increase power generation capacity to 19,000MW by 2030, according to a new report from BMI Research. Kenya’s power generation capacity is currently dominated by geothermal, hydropower and renewables, although the country intends to introduce LNG into its energy mix, the report highlighted. Kenya does not currently produce gas but a number of discoveries have been made in the country. Kenya’s electricity demand is set to increase in the coming years, supported by a growing population and the implementation of large industrial projects, the report stated. “Kenya’s electrification rate remains relatively low with an estimated 55 percent of Kenyans having currently access to electricity,” the report said. “The introduction of LNG into the country’s energy mix and the potential expansion of domestic gas production could be key to meeting growing demand for energy amid the country’s ambitious target to increase connectivity to [the] electricity grid to attain one million new customers each year,” the report added.
