Oil prices have been stuck in a narrow trading range at around $50 a barrel, despite OPEC’s plan to reduce output. This is partly due to some members actually increasing production. Libyan output stood almost 400,000 barrels per day above the March level last month, while Nigerian production jumped by nearly 300,000 bpd. The Saudi output rose by 160,000 bpd and Iraqi production increased by 43,000 bpd. “This is the hill the organization will have to climb and it has to do it in a relative hurry,” Mr. Varga says. v
