US oil producers may dial back their production if domestic prices stay below $50/barrel for a sustainable period, says Vivek Dhar, a commodities strategist at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. “While US oil output is unlikely to fully replace the cuts to global oil production this year, we remain open to the possibility that US oil supply could surprise to the upside.” But with WTI moving back under $50 this week, “US oil-supply growth may start to slow.” he says.
