PRO-LOG Wireless Thermal Mapping of The Pay zone
PRO-LOG is a wireless temperature monitoring system that permits a continuous high-resolution temperature profile to be gathered from any section of a well. Combining precision and reliability with robustness, PRO-LOG is deployed on perforating guns, tubing, casing, or sand screens, and is adaptable for short or long-term applications.
A WIRELESS ALTERNATIVE TO FIBRE OPTICS
PRO-LOG is constructed with multiple discrete temperature sensors enclosed within a control line (e.g. 1/4’’) and attached to a memory processor that time stamps and transmits the data. Metrol’s PARAGON wireless telemetry system is used to retrieve the selected data to surface.
The PRO-LOG clamping system permits deployment in screens, liners, and can include multiple lines over perforating guns of any size.
PRO-LOG has some distinct advantages over fiber optics DTS:
> no need to average for high resolution and little inherent noise
> improved temperature resolution
> reduced running time and associated risks
> elimination of packer/surface penetrations and leak paths
> targeted data collection i.e. installation is only required across the zone of interest
DEPLOYMENT AND INTEGRATION WITH PARAGON
PRO-LOG is ideal for monitoring the flowing temperature profile of the perforations during DST and completion operations.
Integrated with Metrol’s PARAGON, the system provides a reliable, field-proven method of communication. Data from PRO-LOG is transmitted up the well to the Metrol Surface Package.
Real time data analysis can take place on site, or transferred to Metrol’s onshore data centre for enhanced thermal modelling and flow profile analysis.
A WIRELESS ALTERNATIVE TO PLT
> PRO-LOG can be sized and configured for the particular length of the producing zone, on TCP guns between packers, and part of a multi-zone test
> PRO-LOG profiles the flow and can see after flow cooling effects, cross flow during build-ups, preferential flow, gas entry, and water influx
> PRO-LOG captures entire well test data, including at maximum flow rates when wireline intervention is not possible
PRO-LOG is not disadvantaged by:
>risks of wireline in hole
>well deviation
>inability to drop TCP guns
> sand control assemblies such as screens and well architecture
Under the above circumstances a PLT would be either impossible or high risk
REAL TIME ENHANCED THERMAL MAPPING
PRO-LOG captures unexpected events that would otherwise have gone unnoticed:

> Distinct variations in relative permeability
> Exothermic reactions (heating)

FLOW-SURE MC: The Wireless Multi-cycle Sleeve From Metrol
The Metrol FLOW-SURE MC is a wirelessly controlled, hydrostatic pressure operated, in-flow control or circulating valve.
DESCRIPTION
The FLOW-SURE MC is a sliding sleeve with a non-elastomeric high pressure sealing system that can be controlled from surface without pressure pulsing or control lines. The wireless technology enables the sleeve to be sited either above or below a packer, without any requirement for packer feedthroughs.
Primarily intended for use in a well testing environment, the sleeve can be used to perform multi-zone well tests without the need to re-run the test string. It is possible to operate the sleeve as an alternate flow path enabling well kill, or continued flow in the event of plugging of screens.
The sleeve can also be used below a permanent packer to isolate the well enabling the DST string to be removed for extended build-ups or long-term reservoir observation.
Metrol’s PARAGON wireless gauges, in conjunction with the sleeve, provide‘real-time’ tubing and annulus pressure monitoring both above and below the packer or packers.
The sleeve includes dual redundant control systems each capable of independently cycling the tool multiple times.

CROSS-FIRE: The Wireless Firing Head from Metrol
Well exploration is becoming more complex and demanding, and Metrol’s CROSS-FIRE offers a safe and precise perforating system. For example, Metrol does not have to send a coded pressure signature to initiate detonation and this allows a‘low perm’ section of the reservoir to be perforated and cleaned-up before shooting a‘higher perm’ section. Planning a perforating sequence in this way improves reservoir understanding, productivity and testing efficiency.
DESCRIPTION
CROSS-FIRE utilises a combination of industry proven technologies to deliver capabilities unavailable elsewhere.
CROSS-FIRE is designed to actuate any percussion style firing head by emulating the action of a drop bar and ensures that the pressure safety feature of the standard hydrostatic firing head is maintained.
The tool is unaected by high well deviation and heavy mud environments. The elimination of pressure activated firing heads allows the packer to be tested in the direction of intended operation.
CROSS-FIRE has been designed with a comprehensive set of safeguards and tested according to API Recommended Practice 67. The safeguards and testing have been independently assessed by an external competent body.
> Multiple tools can be run at the same time, for fully selectable zonal testing
> Integrated with proven Metrol Paragon Telemetry system
> Long battery life with power save functionality, minimum of 40 days
> Coded digital fire command sequence
> Adaptable to all makes, models and sizes of drop bar/hydrostatic firing heads
BENEFITS
> Ability to adapt to changing well test sequence as required, no pre-set fire sequences
> Removes uncertainty of conventional‘blind’ pressure activation with bidirectional real time communications
> Eliminates risk of misfire due to incorrect pressure calculations, and permits use in highly deviated wells
> Full choice of TCP gun vendor
SAFETY
Software Security – Password protected standalone firing head software. Unique factory set identifier ensuring that CROSS-FIRE only responds to messages intended for it.
Electronically Commutated Motor –Key information required to fire is not held in the tool and is sent digitally in two parts via the prime and fire commands.
Temperature Range – The tool will only operate within software set limits.
Prime & Fire – Two distinct commands required in the correct order and within a time window.
Hydrostatic Firing Head – Used in conjunction with industry percussion style firing heads.
A minimum hydrostatic set pressure is required on the (drop-bar) firing head in order to operate.
Thermal Switch – Mechanical temperature switch eliminates the risk of activation at surface by preventing operation below minimum temperature.
Time Delayed Hydraulic Lock-Out Should guns fail to fire for any reason once firing sequence has been initiated, tool will hydraulically lock in the unfired position after a preset time period and guns will be safe to pull out of hole.
